Sheriff’s office implements senior safety program

The Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Office has introduced a new safety initiative called Confirm OK, designed to check on elderly and disabled mem‑bers of the community through a simple, auto‑mated phone system.

With assistance from the Council on Aging, the Sheriff’s Office has obtained a list of residents 75 years of age or older, as well as individuals with disabilities, to ensure they are included in the pro‑gram. If you or someone you know meets these cri‑teria and did not receive a call, please reach out so your information can be added. Participants enrolled in Confirm OK will receive an automated call from phone number, 318-3735729, featuring the voice of Sheriff Rob Rushing, checking in to make sure they are safe. When the call comes in, residents will be asked to press 1 and the # sign to confirm they are okay. If the individual is not okay or needs immedi‑ate help, they should hang up and dial 911.

Calls are made twice daily—between 9 and 10 a.m., and again between 3 and 4 p.m. If there is no answer, the system will attempt to call at least three times. After three unsuccessful attempts, dispatch will be notified so a welfare check can be conducted.

If you know someone who should be included in the Confirm OK pro‑gram, or if you believe you were missed, please call 318‑766‑3499 and provide their information to Ginger Sanders or Betty Brown at the Sheriff’s Office.

The Confirm OK pro‑gram reflects the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing com‑mitment to safeguarding vulnerable residents and ensuring that no one in the community is left without support.
